Payment Methods Accepted¶
Salama Hosting offers a variety of secure and convenient payment options to make it easy for you to purchase and renew your services. Whether you prefer mobile money, a bank card, or a direct transfer, we've got you covered. This guide explains each available payment method, how to use it, and answers common payment-related questions.
Available Payment Methods¶
MTN Mobile Money¶
MTN Mobile Money is one of the fastest and most popular payment methods for our customers in Uganda and across East Africa.
How to pay with MTN Mobile Money:
- Log in to your client portal and navigate to your unpaid invoice.
- Select MTN Mobile Money as your payment method.
- Enter your MTN phone number when prompted.
- You'll receive a USSD push notification on your phone asking you to confirm the payment.
- Enter your Mobile Money PIN to authorize the transaction.
- Once confirmed, the payment reflects on your account — usually within 1–5 minutes.
Tip: Ensure your MTN Mobile Money account has sufficient balance before initiating the payment. You can check your balance by dialing

Airtel Money¶
Airtel Money is another widely used mobile payment option available to Salama Hosting customers.
How to pay with Airtel Money:
- Open your unpaid invoice in the client portal.
- Select Airtel Money as the payment method.
- Enter your Airtel phone number.
- Approve the payment request sent to your phone.
- Enter your Airtel Money PIN to complete the transaction.
- Payment typically confirms within 1–5 minutes.

Visa / MasterCard¶
We accept international debit and credit cards through our secure payment gateway. This method is ideal for customers both within Uganda and internationally.
Supported card types:
- Visa Debit & Credit Cards
- MasterCard Debit & Credit Cards
How to pay with a card:
- Open the invoice you want to pay in the client portal.
- Select Credit/Debit Card as the payment method.
- Enter your card details:
- Card number
- Expiration date
- CVV (3-digit security code on the back of your card)
- Cardholder name
- Click Pay Now to process the transaction.
- You may be prompted with a 3D Secure verification step from your bank (e.g., an OTP sent via SMS).
- Payment is confirmed instantly upon successful authorization.
Security: All card transactions are processed over encrypted connections using industry-standard SSL/TLS encryption. We do not store your full card details on our servers.
Bank Transfer¶
For larger payments or corporate accounts, we accept direct bank transfers to our company account.

How to pay via bank transfer:
- Initiate a transfer from your bank (online banking, mobile banking, or in-branch).
- Use your invoice number (e.g., INV-00234) as the payment reference.
- Send the payment receipt or proof of transfer to billing@salamahosting.com.
- Our billing team will verify the payment and update your invoice — typically within 1–3 business days.
Important: Always include your invoice number as the reference. Without it, there may be delays in matching the payment to your account.
PayPal (On Request)¶
PayPal is available for international customers who prefer this payment platform.
How to request PayPal payment:
- Contact our billing team at billing@salamahosting.com with your invoice number.
- We'll send you a PayPal payment request or invoice.
- Complete the payment through your PayPal account or using a card via PayPal.
- Payment is typically confirmed within 24 hours.
Note: PayPal is available on request rather than as a default checkout option. Contact us if you'd like to use this method regularly, and we can set it up for your account.
Payment Confirmation and Receipts¶
After a successful payment:
- Your invoice status changes to Paid in the client portal.
- A payment confirmation email is sent to your registered email address.
- You can download a PDF receipt from the invoice page in your client area.
- For Mobile Money payments, you'll also receive an SMS confirmation from your mobile provider.

Automatic Payments¶
To avoid missing renewal dates, you can set up automatic payments:
- Credit/Debit Cards: Add your card to your client profile under Billing → Payment Methods. Future invoices will be charged automatically.
- Mobile Money: Currently, mobile money payments require manual approval for each transaction due to the USSD confirmation step.
Troubleshooting Payment Issues¶
My Mobile Money payment didn't go through¶
- Check your balance: Ensure you have enough funds including any transaction fees.
- Check for a pending request: Sometimes the USSD prompt may be delayed. Wait a few minutes and check your phone.
- Try again: If the prompt expired, go back to the invoice and re-initiate the payment.
- Network issues: If your mobile network is experiencing problems, wait and try later.
My card payment was declined¶
- Verify card details: Double-check the card number, expiry date, and CVV.
- Insufficient funds: Ensure the account linked to your card has enough balance.
- International transactions: Some banks block international online payments by default. Contact your bank to enable online transactions.
- 3D Secure failure: If the OTP or verification step fails, contact your bank.
My bank transfer hasn't been applied¶
- Wait for processing: Bank transfers take 1–3 business days.
- Send proof of payment: Email your payment receipt to billing@salamahosting.com with your invoice number.
- Check the reference: Ensure you used the correct invoice number as the payment reference.
I was charged twice¶
- Contact billing@salamahosting.com immediately with:
- Your invoice number
- Both transaction reference numbers
- Screenshots or receipts of both charges
- Our team will investigate and process a refund for the duplicate charge.
Currency and Pricing¶
- All prices on the Salama Hosting website are displayed in USD (US Dollars) or UGX (Ugandan Shillings), depending on your account settings.
- Mobile Money payments are processed in UGX at the current exchange rate.
- Card and PayPal payments can be processed in USD.
- Bank transfers can be made in UGX or USD depending on your bank.
Frequently Asked Questions¶
Can I split a payment across multiple methods?¶
Currently, each invoice must be paid using a single payment method. If you need to split a payment, contact our billing team for assistance.
Is there a processing fee for mobile money payments?¶
Salama Hosting does not charge additional processing fees. However, your mobile money provider may apply standard transaction fees.
Can I pay for someone else's service?¶
Yes. You can pay any invoice as long as you have the correct invoice number and payment details. Contact support if you need the invoice forwarded to another email.
Do you offer payment plans or installments?¶
For hosting packages of 12 months or longer, contact our sales team to discuss potential payment arrangements.
What happens if I overpay?¶
Any overpayment will be credited to your account balance and applied to your next invoice automatically.
